Sculptra in Bogotá
Density that builds · without rushing
Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid biostimulator. It doesn’t fill as you walk out of the office: it prompts the skin to produce its own collagen, session by session, over months. It’s for people looking for gradual density and firmness, not a change for the weekend.

Sculptra is an injectable of poly-L-lactic acid, also known as polylactic acid, that stimulates your own collagen production to restore density and firmness in areas that have lost support. It isn’t a filler: the change appears gradually over months. At iki, in Bogotá, it is injected in a series of sessions, after a medical consultation that sets the dose and the areas.

What Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) treatment at iki looks like
The dose is spread out over time. That way the skin responds evenly and the result looks like your own.
Consultation and mapping
We assess the areas that have lost support, skin quality and what you expect. We decide whether Sculptra is the best option or whether Radiesse, HArmonyCa or a filler is a better fit.
Product preparation
The poly-L-lactic acid is reconstituted in advance following the manufacturer’s protocol, so the suspension is uniform.
Injection
After antisepsis, and local anesthesia when needed, the physician distributes the product in deep layers with a needle or cannula. Afterward you may see slight volume that goes away within days: it’s the liquid in the mixture, not the result.
Massage and aftercare
The area is massaged at the end and, if the physician indicates it, you continue massaging at home for a few days to distribute the product.
Next session
After a few weeks the response is assessed and the next dose is injected. The number of sessions and vials is set according to the area and your skin.
What it offers
Your own collagen
The microparticles stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen. The product is reabsorbed and what remains is the skin’s own tissue.
How it differs from Radiesse
Radiesse, made of calcium hydroxylapatite, gives support from the session and firmness over the following months. Sculptra doesn’t add volume when injected: it builds density more slowly and more diffusely.
How it differs from fillers
A hyaluronic acid filler takes up space and the change shows when you leave. Sculptra doesn’t take up space: it stimulates. That’s why it isn’t used for the lips or to define a specific point.
Complements botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin treats expression lines and Sculptra treats density. They do different things, which is why iki offers a plan that combines both.
Technology with an indication
Sculptra · poly-L-lactic acid
Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid microparticles, a biocompatible, reabsorbable material that has been used in medicine for decades. It comes in a vial and is reconstituted before injection. We recommend it when the goal is to restore density and support diffusely and gradually, in patients willing to follow a plan in sessions.
Results and aftercare
The volume you see when you leave is temporary and disappears within days. After that, density and firmness improve progressively and usually become visible over several months, with the full series. The effect of Sculptra usually lasts longer than that of a filler, but its duration depends on age, skin and habits. Maintenance is scheduled based on your follow-ups.
Aftercare after the session
- Massage at home only as the physician indicates, with the exact frequency and number of days
- Cold compresses for the first few hours if there is swelling
- Avoid makeup, saunas and intense exercise for the first 24 hours
- Don’t have facial treatments involving heat or pressure on the area without checking first
- Contact us if a lump doesn’t go away or pain increases
Results vary from patient to patient.

What is Sculptra?
It’s an injectable collagen biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid. It prompts the skin to produce its own collagen and gradually restores density and support. It isn’t a filler: it doesn’t take up space or show when you leave the office, which is why it’s planned as a series of sessions.
When will I see results from Sculptra?
The first changes are usually noticeable after a few weeks, and the result becomes visible over several months as collagen forms. The slight volume on day one is the liquid in the mixture and goes away within a few days. It’s not an option for an upcoming event.
How many Sculptra sessions are needed?
Often 2 or 3 sessions are planned a few weeks apart, because the effect builds up and spreading the dose gives a more even result. The number of sessions and vials depends on the area, the loss of density and how your skin responds. It’s set at your consultation.
What’s the difference between Sculptra and Radiesse?
Both are biostimulators. Radiesse, made of calcium hydroxylapatite, provides support from the session and improves firmness over the following months. Sculptra, made of poly-L-lactic acid, doesn’t give support when injected and builds density more slowly and diffusely. The physician chooses based on the area and the goal.
Is Sculptra the same as hyaluronic acid?
No. Hyaluronic acid is a filler: it takes up space, shows when you leave and is used for volume or targeted definition, such as lips or folds. Sculptra stimulates collagen and works diffusely and gradually. It isn’t used in the lips or around the eyes. Sometimes both are combined in the same plan.
What side effects can it have?
Swelling, tenderness and mild bruising for a few days are common. Less often, small palpable nodules can appear, a risk that is reduced with proper reconstitution, the right technique and the indicated massage. If a lump doesn’t go away, it’s reviewed at follow-up.
How long does Sculptra last?
It usually lasts longer than a hyaluronic acid filler, because what remains is your own collagen. Duration depends on age, skin quality, sun exposure and habits, and there’s no fixed figure for everyone. At your follow-ups we decide when maintenance makes sense.
How much does Sculptra cost in Bogotá?
It depends on the number of vials and sessions each case requires, and on whether the plan is combined with botulinum toxin or other treatments. The full price is given to you in writing at the free consultation, before you start. Your consultation at iki is free · 45 minutes.
