Fractional radiofrequency microneedling
Collagen from within · session by session
Fractional radiofrequency microneedling combines micro-channels in the skin with heat in the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin. It’s recommended for acne scars, uneven texture and fine lines. It improves the skin gradually · it doesn’t erase or replace it.

Fractional radiofrequency microneedling is a treatment that inserts very fine needles into the skin and releases radiofrequency energy in the dermis. That combination stimulates collagen and elastin to improve acne scars, texture and fine lines. At iki each session lasts about 60 minutes, and 4 to 6 sessions are usually recommended, 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Who it’s for · and who it isn’t
Indicated when
- Atrophic acne scars, including deeper ones
- Uneven texture and visible pores
- Fine lines and an early loss of firmness
- Skin of different tones that needs collagen stimulation with a lower risk of dark spots than other technologies
Not the right time if
- Active, inflamed acne in the area · the breakout is controlled first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices
- Infection, active cold sores or a tendency to keloid scarring · assessed case by case
The physician makes the final indication at the consultation. Results vary from patient to patient.
What an RF microneedling session is like at iki
Needle depth and energy are adjusted to each area and each type of scar. Nothing is applied the same way on every face.
Consultation
The physician classifies the scars, checks for active acne and defines depth, energy and the number of sessions.
Skin preparation
The face is cleansed and the area is prepared so the session is tolerable.
Microneedles and radiofrequency
The handpiece inserts very fine needles that create micro-channels and release radiofrequency energy in the dermis. The heat activates the regeneration of collagen and elastin.
Finish and aftercare
The skin is soothed and you receive written instructions. The skin stays red for a few hours or days.
What it offers
Improves acne scars
Collagen stimulation gradually fills in the depressions. Deep scars improve, although they rarely disappear completely.
More even texture and tone
It doesn’t act on the scar alone. It improves the overall surface of the skin.
More collagen and elastin
Radiofrequency heats the dermis without damaging the surface. Firmness improves gradually.
Suitable for different skin tones
The energy is released beneath the surface, which is why it’s often a sound option for darker skin.
Technology with an indication
EndyMed gold microneedles
We use the EndyMed gold microneedle system, which combines microneedles with fractional radiofrequency. The needles deliver the energy directly to the dermis, where collagen is formed, and protect the surface layer. We chose it because it lets us treat scars and texture with settings adjustable by area.
Results and aftercare
The first improvements are usually noticeable after 1 or 2 sessions. The full result shows at the end of the plan, because collagen keeps forming for weeks after each session. For scars, the realistic goal is to soften them and improve texture, not to leave the skin without marks. What you achieve typically holds with sunscreen and a good routine.
Aftercare after the session
- Daily sunscreen from the next day
- No makeup for the first 24 hours
- A gentle routine · no acids, retinoids or exfoliants until your physician says so
- Avoid direct sun, swimming pools, sauna and intense exercise for the first few days
- Don’t pick at or handle your skin while it’s sensitive
Results vary from patient to patient.

Does RF microneedling hurt?
You feel pressure with heat at each pass. Skin preparation makes the session tolerable for most patients. Areas with thinner skin can be more sensitive, and the physician adjusts the energy if needed.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 4 to 6 sessions are recommended. Improvements start to show after 1 or 2. The exact number depends on the type and depth of the scars and is defined at the consultation. Some scars need a combination of technologies to make progress.
How often are sessions done?
We recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks between sessions. That time lets the skin recover and new collagen form. Shortening the intervals doesn’t speed up the result, but it does increase irritation.
How long does each session take?
About 60 minutes, depending on the area treated and your skin’s needs. It includes preparation, the treatment and an aftercare finish. You can return to your activities the same day, with reddened skin.
What side effects does it have?
It’s a well-tolerated treatment. Afterward there is redness and sensitivity, which usually go away quickly. Small pinpoint marks may be visible for the first few days. If your skin is very reactive, the physician takes that into account when setting the parameters.
Does it work for all skin types?
It’s suitable for most skin types and tones, because the energy is released inside the dermis. Even so, in darker skin the settings are adjusted and sunscreen is emphasized to prevent post-inflammatory dark spots. For melasma, it isn’t the main indication.
Can it be done during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
It isn’t done during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Acne scars don’t get worse by waiting, and at this stage the priority is a safe routine. Afterward, the consultation sets the timing and the plan.
Is it the same as microneedling with a roller?
No. A roller or a dermapen creates micro-channels, but doesn’t release radiofrequency. Here, the heat in the dermis multiplies the collagen stimulus. Your consultation at iki is free · 45 minutes · with a diagnosis and a written plan.
