Lip fillers are a minimally invasive procedure in which a physician injects hyaluronic acid into the lips to add volume, hydration and definition. At iki the work is guided by proportion, generally starting with one syringe. Topical or local anesthesia is used, you’re back to normal life in 24 to 48 hours, and the effect usually lasts several months.

What a lip filler treatment at iki looks like
It starts with looking at the whole face, not just the mouth. The lips have to be in conversation with the rest of the face.
Consultation and proportion
The physician studies the shape of your lips and how they relate to your nose, chin and teeth, and listens to what you want. If what you’re looking for doesn’t suit your face, we tell you.
Anesthesia
A topical numbing cream or local anesthesia is applied so the procedure is comfortable to tolerate.
Hyaluronic acid injection
Hyaluronic acid is injected at precise points to add volume, hydration or definition according to the plan. We generally start with one syringe.
Review and aftercare
Symmetry is checked, cold is applied and you receive written aftercare instructions.
What it offers
Proportioned volume
We add the volume your face can carry. Lips that look like yours.
Hydration and elasticity
Hyaluronic acid attracts water. Lips feel more hydrated and elastic.
A defined outline
The lip border can be worked to bring out the shape without exaggerating it.
Minimally invasive
A short procedure, with controlled discomfort and a return to normal life in a day or two.
Technology with an indication
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body produces naturally, which is why it is biocompatible. In the lips it adds volume, hydration and definition. The body metabolizes it over time, so the result isn’t forever. If the physician considers it necessary, it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
Results and aftercare
The change shows from day one, but the real shape appears once the swelling goes down, 5 to 7 days later. The effect of hyaluronic acid usually lasts 6 to 12 months, depending on how each body metabolizes the product. Touch-ups are scheduled at follow-up, only if needed.
Aftercare after the session
- Ice on the area to reduce swelling
- No direct sun, sauna or steam baths for 48 hours
- No intense exercise or alcohol for 24 hours
- Don’t massage or press your lips unless the physician tells you to
- Wait for the swelling to go down before judging the result
Results vary from patient to patient.

Do lip fillers hurt?
There may be some discomfort, but it is minimized with a topical numbing cream or local anesthesia applied before the procedure. Most patients find it tolerable and feel only a slight pinch during the injection. The lips are sensitive, so the physician works calmly.
How long do lip fillers last?
They usually last 6 to 12 months. It depends on individual factors such as how quickly your body metabolizes the product, the type of hyaluronic acid and the area treated. Touch-ups are assessed at follow-up, and in many cases they are scheduled between 6 and 9 months.
How much recovery do I need?
It’s quick. Most people return to their daily activities within 24 to 48 hours. Swelling and bruising, if they appear, usually clear within 5 to 7 days. If you have an important event, it’s best to leave at least a week of margin.
What side effects do they have?
The most common are swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness in the treated area. They are usually mild and short-lived. Any change in skin color, intense pain or a lump that doesn’t go away should be reported to the medical team right away.
Will they look overdone?
That’s not the goal. We work with proportion in mind and generally start with one syringe. If you ask for volume that doesn’t suit your face, we’ll tell you, even if it means losing the sale. Lips that look like yours.
What aftercare do I need?
Avoid sun, saunas and steam baths for 48 hours, and intense exercise and alcohol for 24 hours. Ice helps bring the swelling down. Don’t press or massage your lips unless the physician tells you to.
Can I get them while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Fillers are not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you want to improve lip hydration during this stage, a balm with sunscreen is the safe option. The consultation can be done afterward.
What’s the difference between lip fillers and a lip flip?
Lip fillers add volume with hyaluronic acid. A lip flip uses botulinum toxin to relax the muscle and show a little more lip, without adding volume. Your consultation at iki is free · 45 minutes · with a diagnosis and a written plan.
