Treatments

Treatments for acne and acne scars

Adult diagnosis · adult protocol

Adult acne has hormonal, barrier and lifestyle causes that don’t respond to what worked at 16. First we control active breakouts; then we treat marks and scars. We use intense pulsed light with a specific filter, medical peels, ResurFX fractional laser and RF microneedling, in that order and not the other way around.

How we decide

Diagnosis first · then the technology

The consultation is not a sales appointment. It is a 45-minute medical consultation, and you leave with a diagnosis and a written plan whether or not you decide to be treated that day.

  • Consultation. Medical history, skin analysis, realistic goals and your budget. Free.
  • Full diagnosis. What can be solved, what can be controlled and what aesthetics can’t fix.
  • Phased plan. What to do first, what next, what each phase costs and how long it takes to show.
  • Treatment. The procedure follows a written protocol, with aftercare instructions in writing.
  • Follow-up. Check-ups in the clinical window that each technology requires.

Frequently asked questions

Does IPL for acne hurt?

Most patients describe it as warmth or a light snap with each pulse. It isn’t considered a painful treatment and usually doesn’t require numbing. The cold gel and adjusting the energy to each area help keep the session comfortable. If an area feels more sensitive, the physician adjusts the settings on the spot.

Does a chemical peel completely remove acne scars?

No, and be wary of anyone who promises it. A peel smooths shallow scars and softens dark spots, and on deep scars it offers partial improvement. When the texture is significant, we combine it with the ResurFX laser or radiofrequency microneedling. At the consultation we tell you how much improvement is realistic in your case.

Does a chemical peel hurt?

During application it’s normal to feel burning, itching or warmth that builds a little with each layer and eases once the product is neutralized or removed. It’s tolerable, and the physician controls the intensity throughout. If it feels stronger than expected, application stops. It usually doesn’t require numbing.

Does the ResurFX laser hurt?

It is a minimally invasive treatment and generally well tolerated. You feel heat during the laser passes. To keep the session comfortable, topical numbing is applied before we start, and the physician adjusts the energy to each area. Afterward, the feeling of heat fades within a few hours.
