Radiesse
Firmness from the structure · at its own pace
Radiesse is an injectable of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel. It gives support when injected and stimulates your own collagen over the following months. It’s used for facial contour and mild to moderate laxity · not in the lips or to change your features.

Radiesse is an injectable biostimulator made of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel. When injected it gives support and definition, and over time it stimulates your own collagen production, which improves skin firmness. At iki it is injected after a medical consultation, mainly in the cheekbones, jawline and contour, in sessions of 30 to 60 minutes.

Indicated when
- Mild to moderate laxity with loss of contour
- A jawline and cheekbones that have lost definition
- Skin that needs firmness as well as support
- People who prefer a gradual, discreet change
Not the right time if
- Lips and the under-eye area · it’s not a product for those areas
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or active infection in the area
- Anyone who wants a reversible filler for a first change · hyaluronic acid is the more prudent choice there
- Severe sagging with excess skin · the indication is surgical
The physician makes the final indication at the consultation. Results vary from patient to patient.
What a Radiesse session at iki looks like
Radiesse can’t be dissolved the way hyaluronic acid can. That’s why precision in the consultation and the technique matters even more.
Consultation
The physician assesses contour, support and skin quality, and confirms that Radiesse is a better option than a filler or a device-based treatment. They set the areas and amount in a written plan.
Preparation
Clinical photos, disinfection, and topical or local anesthesia depending on the area.
Injection
The product is placed in the indicated deep layer with a cannula or fine needle. Afterward, the physician gently molds the area if they consider it necessary.
Follow-up
The result is reviewed once the swelling goes down, and the progress in firmness is followed over the next months.
What it offers
Support and collagen
It adds definition when injected and stimulates your own collagen as the gel is reabsorbed.
A more defined contour
Useful in the cheekbones, jawline and chin when the facial oval has lost sharpness.
A gradual change
Firmness builds over time · the result blends in without obvious volume.
A well-known material
Calcium hydroxylapatite is a mineral similar to the one in bone, compatible with the body, and reabsorbed over time.
Technology with an indication
Radiesse
Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. The gel is reabsorbed within weeks and the microspheres act as a scaffold that stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen; the body then gradually metabolizes them. We recommend it when the goal is firmness and contour, not volume in thin areas.
Results and aftercare
When you leave you’ll notice support and some swelling, which usually subsides within a few days. The improvement in firmness is progressive and becomes more visible over the following months. The effect usually lasts a long time, in some cases up to 2 years, depending on the area, age and each person’s metabolism. Radiesse improves firmness and contour · it doesn’t remove excess skin.
Aftercare after the session
- Intermittent cold compresses for the first few hours
- Follow massage instructions only if the physician gives them
- Avoid intense exercise, saunas and heat for 24–48 hours
- Seek care right away if you notice intense pain or a change in skin color
- Daily sunscreen
Results vary from patient to patient.

What is Radiesse and what is it for?
It’s an injectable calcium hydroxylapatite biostimulator. It gives support and definition in areas such as the cheekbones, jaw and chin, and improves skin firmness by stimulating your own collagen. It isn’t meant for the lips or for adding volume in thin areas such as under the eyes.
How many Radiesse sessions will I need?
In most cases one session is enough for a noticeable change, although it depends on the degree of laxity and skin quality. Some people benefit from a second treatment after a few months. The amount is set at your consultation and reviewed at follow-up.
How long does a Radiesse session take?
30 minutes to an hour, depending on the areas. That includes preparation, anesthesia and injection. You leave the clinic the same day and can resume most activities, avoiding intense exercise and heat for the first 24 to 48 hours.
Can it be dissolved if I don’t like it?
Not with hyaluronidase, as hyaluronic acid can. That’s why Radiesse isn’t the option for trying out a first change, or for areas where millimeter precision is critical. Careful indication and conservative injection are the main safety measures.
Does the injection hurt?
Topical or local anesthesia is used depending on the area, so most people feel pressure and brief discomfort. In the following days there may be tenderness to the touch, mild swelling or small bruises, which usually clear on their own within a few days.
Is Radiesse safe for all skin types?
Radiesse doesn’t act on pigment, so skin tone isn’t a limitation in itself. What we assess is the area, skin thickness, your history and previous procedures. No injectable is risk-free, which is why every case is reviewed at the consultation.
Who shouldn’t get Radiesse?
It’s not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active infection in the area, uncontrolled autoimmune disease or a tendency to keloid scarring. It’s also not used in the lips. And when there is excess skin, neither Radiesse nor any other injectable replaces the surgical indication: we’ll tell you at your consultation.
